Nowadays sensitivity towards the hygiene and safety of food products, as well as towards the environment and material waste, is growing. Univel Group's activities are environmentally friendly: the wastewater and cooling water is collected and sent to a treatment plant before being discharged, while exhausted gases coming from the production plants are directed to solvent recovery systems that reduce emissions and recover all solvents.
Castagna Univel generates electricity and heat while respecting the environment. By using a modern cogeneration plant fueled with natural gas, the Company generates electricity and thermal energy with a very low environmental impact. This strategic choice offers benefits in terms of energy saving and environmental policy. R&D departments are constantly involved in the study of new solutions to reduce the amount of material used, without jeopardizing the packaging performance.
Both Filca Univel and Tecnopack Univel have obtained the FSC Chain of Custody certification. This standard provides a credible assurance that products originate from well-managed forests, controlled sources, or reclaimed materials. Forests are incredibly valuable, not only for the survival of people but for the rest of the planet. Univel concretely contributes to preserve one of our best defences against climate change.
